BOURNEMOUTH BY DAY

When it is a hot summer day in Bournemouth, you can find most students lying around on one of the many beaches along the coastline. The town beaches of Bournemouth, Boscombe, Southbourne, Alum Chine and Durley Chine are all, very convenient and offer facilities such as cafés, water sports, boat trips, and deck chair hire, what more does a student need?
Students also like to go further away and spend some time with their friends on beaches located out of town. Water sports fans will love the Sandbanks Peninsula, as its conditions are perfect for windsurfing and jet skiing. Studland Beach, owned by the National Trust, is very famous for its beautiful clean white sand. An information display also exists, explaining local wildlife at the visitors' centre. One can get there by taking a small ferry from Sandbanks, which only takes you a couple of minutes across the causeway. The rock formation called “Durdle Door” is one of the most photographed locations and famous parts of Dorset's coastline. It is quite popular with both local students and students from abroad.
When the weather is not so great, people can still enjoy a nice stroll along the cliffs of the Purbeck Hills or the boulevard all the way to Poole and back. You can also enjoy a meal with a great seaside view at one of the restaurants along the seafront, which offer fresh seafood, Italian and of course typical fish and chips!
In the town gardens, you can take a flight on the Bournemouth Eye balloon, which on a clear day gives you an overview of the English Channel and the surrounding area for up to 35 kilometers. There is also, an Oceanarium and a funfair.

SHOPPING

People who are interested in shopping in their spare time can enjoy the city centre of Bournemouth, where there are a lot of shops and boutiques. Also, the centre of Bournemouth has gone trough a lot of changes, due to the fact that it got an injection of investment lately. New brands, like Zara, H&M, Karen Millen and Coast will soon be a part of Bournemouths´ shopping centre.
Bournemouth Town Centre has major national and regional high street brands including Marks and Spencer’s, Debenhams, WH Smith and Borders and jostle alongside small, individual boutiques, cafes and bars. Whether students prefer a major shopping extravaganza, or more leisurely window shopping, Bournemouth is the place to be.

PARKS

Students like to enjoy the beautiful parks and gardens as well, when they are taking a break from the studying and had enough of the sand of the beach. Don’t miss Compton Acres on Canford Cliffs, famous for its rare plants and Japanese Garden. Poole Park is another beautiful place to relax, with its lake, gardens, putting green, mini golf and numerous other attractions including: Gus Gorilla’s Jungle, a popular indoor play area for children under 12.
Situated on the outskirts of Poole, Tower Park is a large entertainment and leisure complex, which houses a Bingo and a computerized Megabowl. This is also where you will find one of the most exciting water parks in Southern England called:  Splashdown. It has not less than 11 thrilling water rides. For people who rather enjoy the swimming than the rides, the Dolphin Swimming pool near Poole bus station is a good place to visit.
